Good Day Deed Diary

In order to "prove" that I'm accepting this personal 366-day challenge to perform at least one good deed per day in 2016, I am logging the deeds below.  There may be repeats and there may be some much more impressive than others.  It doesn't matter.  Simply doing something to make someone else's life easier or happier, no matter how much effort it takes, has a reward so much greater than any act.  Just do something!

01/01/16:
Launching the 366 Good Days campaign and taking a neighbor's trash can from the curb while he was out of town.

01/02/16:
Making two elderly women at Target smile. They were wearing matching bright purple jackets and I commented that purple was definitely their color.

01/03/16:
Returning several abandoned shopping carts scattered in a Food Lion parking lot to the nearest corral. Some were in areas hard to see and could have caused damage to cars.

01/04/16:
I took about 8 packets of McDonald's Paul Newman salad dressing to the work break room, placed them in a bin in the refrigerator, and wrote "Free Salad Dressing, Take one." They were gone and hopefully enjoyed by the end of the day.

01/05/16:
I added some links to my Facebook page, "Black is the New Pink - Fight Melanoma."  This is a good deed I perform a couple of times a week, but with the holidays, I've had no time to do so.  This is my first update this year and the articles I share could be life-saving or perhaps make people more ware of melanoma.  I won't post this as a good deed again, but because it's my first of the year, I'll claim it as today's good day deed.

01/06/16:
One of my colleagues is resigning to take a position elsewhere.  I arranged a gathering of co-workers to take this guy to lunch and bought him his meal to thank him for his assistance and friendship.

01/07/16:
Today's Good Day Deed was a fun one. Two little girls were twirling in their princess dresses in an aisle at Target. I approached (while the mother was there) and praised their dresses and claimed that I'd never met a real princess before, let alone two! They smiled the biggest smiles! So did their mom as she encouraged both to say, "thank you." I enthusiastically responded with, "you're welcome, me ladies!" and bowed. Giggles makes for great background noise when you shop.

01/08/16:
Today's was much like yesterday's.  When I was checking out at Food Lion (not Target for a change), the young lady who was my cashier was named "Esveidy."  I asked her about her name and told her how pretty her name was and that she should be very proud of it.  It made her smile...

01/09/16:
I made a $10 donation to a GoFundMe page for a woman recently diagnosed with Stage IV Melanoma.  She's the program coordinator for the Miracle League of the Triangle...a baseball league for people with special needs.  She deserves as much love as she's been sharing...

01/10/16:
Volunteered to assist a local daycare with upgrades and redecorating the rooms with new photos and books. Today's suggestion, donate some children's books to a local daycare...they get torn up quickly and need replenishing often!

01/11/16:
This evening I worked overtime and started talking with a co-worker that I rarely talk with. We discussed the lottery and how we'd spend the money, which led to sharing our dreams and passions. I saw the "real" person behind this co-worker...and I was thanked for spending the time to chat and get to know one another. Having bonding moments like that is a good deed for not only another, but for you as well.
